DIWALI PERSONALIZED GIFT

So guys let’s start making a personalized gift/home decor of photo transfer on wood. Transferring image magically is so much fun and surprisingly easy to do.

SUPPLIES YOU WILL NEED FOR A DIY PHOTO TRANSFER TO WOOD

Wooden plank of any size as per your preference (Check out at Amazon.com and Amazon.in)
Mod podge (matte or gloss)[At Amazon.com and Amazon.in]
Photo or Image ( Printed in reverse on regular paper)
Foam Brush
Scissor
Cloth or water spray

Gather all the above supplies.

STEPS TO TRANSFER PHOTO TO WOOD:

1] Printing Photo Or Image:

Design image: You can design images as per your preferences with the help of Canva. Check out the below image designed for Diwali personalized gifts with a family photo and message underneath.
Reverse the Image as we are going to put the printed side down on the wood.
Take a print out of the image using a Laser printer on regular paper. I use an inkjet printer but the image transfer was not perfect, it was little light. So more preferably use a Laser printer copy.
Cut the printed photo to the same size as the wooden plank.

2] Mod Podge Photo Transfer

Paint a thin layer of mod podge on the photo or image. Be careful, the image should remain intact.
Take a layered image and place it on the wood piece precisely to the size of the wooden plank or you can either place the wooden plank on mod podge layered photo and flip it.
Take a credit card or other object to press on the image to remove all the air bubbles or wrinkles. If there are any air bubbles then the image transfer will not happen in that area.

3] Allow The Mod Podge To Dry

Allow the mod podge to dry for 24 hours. (I hate waiting but its worth it ) Longer the time you keep better will be the result.
keep it in a dry place to completely transfer the image on the wooden plank. A dose of patience!

4] Damp with a wet cloth and rub off the paper

Take a damp cloth and put it on the image and press it until the image gets wet. (Can use water spray as well)
Try to rub off the paper. You will be amazed to see that the mod podge will keep the image on the wood.
If the paper dries up make sure to make it wet again and rub it off with finger which works well.
Don’t rub too hard as it can take off the image as well. Be gentle! (If the image comes out in some part don’t worry you can always go for a rustic look 🙂

5] Seal with mod podge gloss

Remove the paper particle and coat a thin layer of mod podge gloss to protect the picture (use can use mod podge matte as well)
let the first layer dry up and apply the second layer in the opposite direction.
